Charbel Al Khoury
Charbel Al Khoury is a visual artist based in Beirut, Lebanon. Following a multi-faceted practice, he uses photography and digital software as a medium of expression. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Photography and Multi-Media at the Notre Dame University-Louaize in Lebanon.
His work is inspired by social fabrics and urban legends, treading between fiction and reality. Over the past years, Al Khoury has turned to visual arts to tackle issues relating to cultural traumas and collective memories, questioning the influence of the Lebanese civil war on post-war Beirut and its citizens. He looks to archives to explore the knowledge they hold. Lately, Khoury has developed an interest in incorporating video and sound into his work.
